St. Peter's Centre is a 12 full time equivalent Medical Short Stay School for pupils aged 5 to 16 with medical needs. Pupils are referred if they have a health condition that prevents them from attending their mainstream school (Mainstream, Special, Academy or Independent).
Our aim is to support schools to enable their pupils to access suitable and flexible education appropriate to their needs and to reintegrate to full time education as soon as their health allows.
St. Peter's provides education and support to pupils who are unfit to attend school and who would particularly benefit from a group provision as part of their recovery. Pupils typically spend up to two terms at the short stay school and the expectation is that they will return to school or another appropriate learning environment. The exception to this is pupils starting in the Autumn term of Year 11, who will remain for the academic year, working towards their exams and moving on to Further Education.
We have teachers with specialist subject knowledge in GCSE English, Maths and Science which ensures a high standard of curriculum delivery and progress and outcomes for learners.
Pupils are also supported to develop emotional resilience through Personal Development across the curriculum and through targeted sessions. The aim is to enable pupils to become as independent as possible and develop awareness and understanding of themselves emotionally and socially. Additionally Year 11 pupils are supported to enable them to access on-going education or post 16 education or training.
Pupils achievement at St. Peter's Medical Short Stay School is outstanding with all pupils making significant progress and outstanding improvement in academic attainment during their time with us.

Curriculum Intent statements have been devised to ensure all staff reflect on the 'what? why? how?' of learning. Staff worked collaboratively to devise statements which reflect a whole school approach to lifelong learning. At St Peter's Centre we are committed to helping young people develop as well rounded individuals able to manage in life. We also aim to equip them with sufficient academic knowledge and skills to become valued citizens in our communities.
